• Question: When staring at a mirror is the image you are seeing twice the distance from the eye to the mirror or just the same distance?

      In reality its the same distance to your eye (a mirror is a flat surface, it doesn’t move forwards or backwards even if you do), but your brain sees it as twice the distance. Take that for a brain explosion!

      Considering the scence inside the mirrors as an imaginary but existing world yes you see the image at twice the actual distance from you.
