It’s really great being in a job where every day is different, you get to work with so many different staff groups, and feel like you’re making a contribution to society. I’m in a position with a lot of responsibility and my judgement and decisions have an impact. It’s difficult seeing patients who are very sick, but you know you are trying to help and make them better.
I get involved in treatment planning, developing new techniques, brachytherapy operations, measuring the amount of radiation coming out of the machines, checking the performance of the machines, dealing with radioactive seeds. Our role is basically being the “radiation expert” which also involves a lot of input into advising on individual patient treatments.
