      The training programme is rather oversubscribed actually!! There’s a bit of a bottle neck and you have to be very lucky to get a place, but some people just apply without really knowing much about it. I think there is a lack in general of more experienced medical physicists on a more senior level. Each radiotherapy centre might have 2-20 medical physicists, depending on the number of patients and machines. It’s a small field and relatively unknown but once you’re in, it’s a job for life.
