It depends on the disease, but certain lifestyle factors like smoking, being overweight, having too much sugar can all definitely lead to certain diseases. Some diseases develop from a virus or bacteria, which is an infection that can live inside you. Eeuugghh!
Diseases form in your body when something goes wrong, for example, if one of your genes isn’t quite right, that can lead to certain cells forming incorrectly and turning into a disease. As Jim says, your lifestyle can also influence whether or not you get certain diseases. Some diseases can be caught by you eating or breathing them in or caught from animals like the mosquito.
Disease form in the body in 2 possible ways generally
1) When the body is attacked by things from the outside environment (poison gases, bacteria, viruses, smoke enter the body by inhalation, mouth, insect bites etc and cause diseases like cancer, diarrhea, flu, etc)
2) When some group of cells / parts of the body function differently (i.e when they malfunction) then how they are suppose to. (Lack of nutrients, vitamins, overdose of glucose, salt cause diseases like diabetes, heart problems, etc)
All kinds of ways unfortunately, the best thing you can do is to stay fit and healthy. These can be external factors as the guys have mentioned above, or something existing or internal. There is always ongoing research into the root of how these things start, some have explanations and some don’t, such as cancers, some are triggered and some just develop over time.
