Doing good in science has 2 important things. 1) Learning and understanding the subject 2) Putting it down correctly on the exam sheet. Importance should be given to both the aspects equally to succeed.

Unfortunately its all down to a lot of study! If you’re really interested in science you will want to find out more about certain parts of it. Then you will increase your understanding and you won’t have to remember so much for exams because you will already understand it!

I got good grades in science by asking lots of questions and because I was interested in how and why things worked it helped me to remember the things that I learnt in lessons. It’s always easier to remember facts and figures if you can relate them to something in the real world and that helped me.

I worked very hard! Once I’d done my revision, I grouped topics together in mindmaps, made flashcards and got my mum to test me, and to remember equations I’d make up phrases beginning with the letters in the equations.

For example, my high school physics teacher taught me: Very Funny Symbol for Velocity = Frequency x Wavelength(represented by a lambda symbol)

The secret is find something that really interests you! Something you want to know – something you want to find out. Once you are passionate about something you’ll get high grades at ease. Talk to your friends and discuss topics and / or work in teams. Some parts will simply be a long studies but again if it really interests you you’ll do it with ease. I remember a very good book about this by a famous scientist its called “The pleasure of finding things out” by Richard Feynman – its very funny. 🙂
