As the purpose of my job is to help with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in patients, then I like to think that the work that I do is not contributing to the extinction of the human race!

My job deals with diagnosing and treating cancer by using radioactive dyes, so we basically try to make people with cancer better. So I’d like to think that I contribute to keeping the race alive!

I am working on improving the way cancer is treated using radiation. If I am successful in achieving my goals hundreds and thousands of patients treated with cancer across the UK/World will get improved treatment and their lives maybe saved/at least improved.

We continually develop and improve our radiotherapy treatment delivery to help cure cancer patients. Hopefully this is a benefit to society as a whole. It’s a huge area of research.. wouldn’t it be nice if we could find a way of preventing cancer?

As I am working on how to design safer medical devices I would say generally all people would benefit and less people would be harmed due to mistakes and errors. So I would say I can ultimately safe a lot of lives.
