In about a billion years from now the sun will start to get larger, dry up our oceans, and kill everything on earth as the planet gets hotter and hotter. It will get larger and larger for a few billion years until the sun will be about 100 times larger in the sky, and nobody will be around to see it!

The Sun is predicted to become a red giant in approximately 5.4 billion years. It is calculated that the Sun will become sufficiently large to engulf the current orbits of the solar system’s inner planets, possibly including Earth. Before it even becomes a red giant, the luminosity of the sun will have nearly doubled and the Earth will be hotter than Venus is today. Once the core hydrogen is exhausted, the sun will expand into a subgiant phase and slowly double in size over about half a billion years. It will then expand more rapidly over about half a billion years until it is over two hundred times larger than today, and a couple of thousand times more luminous……..But baiscally its going to take a long long long time before this happens….

In about a billion years the sun will go supernova this means it will explode and annihilate everything in our solar system. However, that is a looong time to go and who knows until then we might live already on so many other stars! Just imagine in the last 150 years we discovered how to fly and in the last 50 years we used computers. I cant wait to see what the next 50 years will unravel
