This depends on the type of tumour and where it’s located. A course of radiotherapy can last from 1-7 weeks, visiting every day for treatment, so quite a long time. At the end of this the tumour and any subclinical, microscopic disease should be killed to so that the tumour can’t come back! The real reason for the long treatment though is to let the healthy tissue recover so it isn’t killed as well.
